| Psychotherapy |
Staff members at Gerena & Associates are skilled in providing evidence-based therapeutic services to children, adolescents and adults who are at risk, 0r who have demonstrated symptoms consistent with a major mental disorder. Staff at Gerena & Associates provides on-site and on-location comprehensive mental health services to our clients and their families. Following a referral for services, a detailed assessment is conducted in order to identify treatment needs and to assist in the development of a treatment plan which has identifiable, measureable goals and objectives.
Staff members have expertise in working with a multitude of mental health needs, including but not limited to: play therapy, crisis intervention, communication and coping strategies, reduction of problematic behaviors, anger management, trauma resolution, co-parenting, age appropriate sexual education, boundaries, social skills, reducing aggressive behaviors, developing and implementing behavior modification plans, problem solving skills, effective decision making, relaxation techniques, substance abuse issues, healthy living, self-esteem and family related issues. |

| Gerena & Associates offers a variety of psychological/forensic assessments and education/training to the Courts, attorneys, private individuals, and/or those who regularly interact with the judicial system. Training programs or evaluations are offered in the following areas: adult and juvenile competency to proceed, adult and juvenile sexual offender evaluation, malingering, sanity/mental state at the time of the offense, downward departure, death penalty and sentencing, risk assessments, substance abuse, delinquency assessments, capacity to parent, and developmental/disability assessments. |
| Consultation |
| Gerena & Associates offers consultation to lawyers, community partners, child advocacy centers, judicial staff members, psychologists and law enforcement agencies. Consultations vary upon the need of the referral and assist the referring agency/individual in formulating hypothesis and creating an appropriate course of action. |
| Training |
| Gerena & Associates provides training to caring professionals, paraprofessionals, and community members regarding a multitude of mental health related issues. Our training programs are geared to raise the standards of care in order to increase knowledge regarding issues affecting our community. Staff members are committed in providing the highest quality seminars on a variety of psychological issues. With the above in mind, training programs are geared to the audience and include, but are not limited to the following issues: early childhood disorders, issues that arise within social service agencies, malingering, healthy sexuality, safety planning, juvenile sexual offenders and children with sexual behavior problems, risk assessment, coping strategies, effective ways to collaborate with community partners, trauma, and/or delinquency. |
